5 Solutions For Navigating Challenges of a Online Teaching Business

So this blog post is very special for me. Firstly, because I’m a mom it hits home and because I am currently in the trenches of trying to build up my business and I personally have come across so many challenges. But today we will only talk about some of the solutions, I have come to realize when navigating this online teaching business of mine, while still being a mommy.

If you are just starting your journey of beginning your online teaching business, download my free guide on How to Start a Online Teaching Business for Beginners.

Give Yourself Grace When Starting Your Online Teaching Business

The first and most important tip I have is to give yourself grace. Grace for not always completing the tasks you had set out for the day. Grace for not seeing the progress that you thought you would be seeing by now. Grace for not making your kids dinner one night and allowing them to eat something from the freezer because your tired and just don’t have to mental load to do it all. And lastly, grace for not always being everything for everyone while your trying to build the future of your dreams, that will make a huge impact not only on your life but the lives of your family.

Wheww!!! That was a lot, but very much needed. Not only was it needed for you but it was needed for me. I get so down on myself sometimes, because I’m not as far along as I though I would be by now with my business and I can’t seem to keep a consistent blog schedule. But then I realize that first and foremost I’m a mom and that eats up a lot of my time and energy, so I’m ok with giving myself a pat on the back for what I do complete and do everyday.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Others When Starting Your Business

This is something that I did a ton of in the beginning and who am I kidding, I still do it now. Starting a Online Teaching Business is hard work. And starting an Online Teaching Business while your a Teacher and a Mommy is even harder. Comparing yourself to others is one of the worst things that you can do. No one is in anyone else’s shoes and no one truly knows what goes on in someone else’s household or in there past.

I have listened to so many women business owners who have said that in the first 5 years of their business they didn’t know what the hell they were doing and they were just trying to figure shit out as they went along. For me this was so comforting. I instantly saw them as real woman who have gone through the same struggles and pain points that I am going through. So comparing myself to who they are now 10+ years into their business isn’t fair to me. Not only am I still in the beginning phases of my business , I’m a mom to two kids 5 and 1, with a fiance who works a full time job, goes to school and invest in real estate. Oh, did I forget that I’m still a teacher and that takes up 8+ hours of my day.

Remember Your in Your Own Race

I say all this to say that I too was like you. Comparing myself to other people I admired, who have their own business but then I realized I’m in a race with no one. I’m in my own lane, racing against myself. I don’t and will not compare myself to other people and neither should you.

You are capable of acquiring everything that you dreamt of and it will happen. We just needed to be reminded that starting an online teaching business while your a mommy is not for the weak. Give yourself grace and know that you don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else, your in a league of your own.

Starting Small is Best When Beginning Your Online Teaching Business

Having big goals and dreams sometimes will come at a price. We sometimes think of all the things that we want to accomplish and do. (Trust me I know because I’m one of those people) But so many times we overachieve and over commit ourselves to a fault without realizing that we can’t do it all and that some balls will be dropped.

Most of the time the balls what will be dropped is with our business. As mothers we have so many obligations already. But our business is like our other baby that needs nurturing and time to grow and expand. So our course we want to pile on all the things that we have been dreaming about to make our business baby the best it can be. But in reality that’s the worst thing we could possibly do if we want to succeed.

Start by Making Small Actionable Goals

Starting off by making actionable, simple goals is how we are going to get to those big dreams of ours. We’re already juggling so much and we don’t have endless time on our hands. So the time that we do have, we need to be intentional with it. We need to set 1 goal and work on that goal for at least 3 months and set systems around that goal. If we completely crushed that goal then in 3 months we can set a new goal with new systems. But if we didn’t meet our goal then we know what we need to work on and if we need to set even smaller goals and more accurate systems next time.

Starting off small is not bad. Don’t get side tracked by all of the shiny objects that you see other people doing. Remember that at some point, every successful business woman owner has had  to start out small and work their way up.

Done is Better Than Perfect When Starting Your Online Teaching Business

I could say this over and over again until I am red in the face, that done is better than perfect. As teachers and moms we strive for perfectionism, yet that sometimes will come at a cost. The cost is never truly getting started because were waiting for the perfect day to start blogging. Or for the house to be clean before we start making Instagram Reels. Or the perfect hair style and makeup before we make a Youtube video. Perfect days are not going to happen and we need to be ok with it.

I pride myself on getting in the race and starting messy. Because hey, atleast Im starting and not sitting on the side lines. Check out my very first youtube video. I can’t say it was a great one, but at least I got in the race.

Get in the race, get messy and get started and you will thank me for it later.

Have Fun and Take Your Time

The last topic is having fun and being ok with taking your time. I can’t begin to tell you how long it takes me to research a blog post. Plus write it, upload it to my website, optimize it for SEO and then make Pinterest pins for it.

I’m kinda exhausted just after writing all that. But needless to say it takes me awhile. And because I have atleast 1 kid that always need me it takes me even longer. But I have learned to be ok with that and to remind myself that something is better than nothing. That doesn’t mean that I’m not always going to be working toward trying to be more consistent and trying to stick to my weekly plan.

One thing you have to remember is that you are a phenomenal woman. Being a mom is hard all in itself. Working as a teacher is also hard. And doing both of them while trying to start a new business venture is extremely hard.

Have fun and enjoy the process and know your glow up will soon come to light.
